Split shifts, school runs and Saturdays: modelling real salon hours
Very few beauty professionals work 9-to-5. Real weeks look like: mornings only on Tuesday and Thursday, a split shift on Friday around the school run, one Saturday in two, and a random Wednesday off next month.
The three layers of real availability
- A weekly template: per weekday, one or MORE time slots (8:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00)
- Date exceptions: this specific Friday closed, or special hours 10:00–14:00
- Time off: holidays and blocks that override everything
If your system only supports one continuous range per day, you end up blocking fake 'lunch appointments' — which breaks reporting and confuses staff. The template-plus-exceptions model keeps the calendar truthful.
In Slotora every staff member has their own three layers, and the booking engine unions the whole team's availability when a client picks 'Anyone'. Free, like everything else in Slotora.
