A hotel restaurant booking system for residents who ask at reception and diners who book online
Two kinds of guest, booking in two different places. The resident asks the front desk at six for a table at eight; the couple from the town booked on your website on Tuesday. Both need to end up on the same floor, without the desk ringing the restaurant to ask.
Slotora does not connect to a hotel's property management system. Everything below works beside it, not inside it.
Why a hotel's restaurant books differently
Breakfast belongs to residents and is rarely booked at all. Lunch is quiet unless there is a function. Dinner is the service that matters: residents who expect a table when they want one, often deciding late in the afternoon, alongside outside guests who booked ahead and are the restaurant's reputation in the town. Add a lounge that serves afternoon tea and a terrace that only exists in summer, and one hotel has four rooms with four different sets of hours.
The usual failure is not a missing feature but a split: reception keeps one list, the restaurant another, and the eight o'clock table is promised twice.
One floor for both front doors
Reception and the restaurant see the same evening
A tablet at the desk and a tablet at the host stand show the same floor. A table booked at reception is gone from the booking page and from the restaurant's screen in the same moment.
Tables held for residents
Keep a few tables back for residents each evening, and let them go back to the booking page at a time you choose — six o'clock, say — if no resident has asked for them.
Each room with its own hours
The breakfast room, the restaurant, the lounge and the terrace are separate areas on the floor plan. Dinner can be tied to the restaurant only, afternoon tea to the lounge, and the terrace service limited to the summer dates you set.
Outside guests book themselves
Your own booking page, at your address, with no commission on the booking. Guests can cancel, change the number of people or move to another evening from their link without calling the desk.
Residents, honestly
- The room number and half board go in the booking note when reception takes the booking. There is no link to the hotel's own system, so nothing is looked up or charged to the room.
- A resident who simply walks in at half past seven is seated in one tap on the best free table, like any walk-in.
- Breakfast does not need to be on the booking page at all; the floor plan and the walk-in tap are there for the morning if you want them.
- The consultant who stays every Tuesday and always dines at eight is booked once as a standing booking — every week, or every two to eight weeks, up to half a year ahead — and each week is checked against the floor like any other booking.
- Print the day sheet for the kitchen and the morning team: service by service, each table with its covers, name, room, allergies, diets, access needs and occasion.
What a hotel will ask about, and the answers
Weddings, conferences and banqueting. Not in Slotora. Close the room to online bookings for the day with a reason, and keep the event itself in the system you use now.
Several hotels. Each hotel's restaurant is its own account, and one owner login switches between them.
Paying. The bill is split by dish, by seat or into equal shares in Slotora; charging it to the room is not part of it, because Slotora does not connect to the hotel's property management system.
Hotel restaurant questions
Does everyone on reception need their own login?
Each person can have one, at no extra cost: invite them with a link from the Team screen, as a host-stand seat or a manager seat, and remove the login when they leave. Every device signed in to the venue sees the same evening, and each change is recorded under the name of the person who made it.
Can the terrace appear on the booking page only in summer?
Yes. The terrace service can be limited to dates, and to the terrace as a room, so it appears from the date you choose and disappears after the last one.
Do you connect to our property management system?
No. Residents are booked like any guest, with the room number in the booking note.
