Setting up your services: price, duration, buffers and extras

Everything on a service: price and duration, buffers, group classes, the days it runs, its own deposit, photo and colour, optional extras, and who can book it.

The basics

Services in the left menu lists what you offer; open one to change it, or add a new one. 'Service name', 'Duration (minutes)' and the price are the basics. A new service opens with an empty price box rather than 0 — in the app too, from version 1.0.18 — and a price of 0 shows as 'Ask for a price' — the service can still be booked, but until one service has a real price your salon stays out of the Slotora directory. A 'Category' groups services on your booking page, for example Nails or Pedicure.

Buffers

'Buffer before (min)' and 'Buffer after (min)' are the time you need around the client — setting up, clearing down. They block your diary but are not part of what the client books or pays for; up to 240 minutes each. Processing time is the opposite: it frees the middle of a treatment for somebody else (see 'Overlapping bookings').

Group classes and the days a service runs

Set Type to 'Group class' and give it a 'Capacity (spots)' of up to 100; a class has a duration like any other service, and no processing time. Under 'Which days does it run?', leave every day unticked and the class runs whenever the person teaching it works; tick some, and it is offered only on those days.

More on each service

  • Photo and colour — a photo for your booking page (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 4 MB), and if you like, its own calendar colour
  • 'Feature this service' — puts it at the top of its group on your booking page
  • 'Deposit for this service' — a different deposit rule for this service only, 'No deposit for this service' included
  • 'Optional extras' — add-ons a guest can choose, each with its own extra minutes and price
  • 'Returning clients only' — hidden from strangers on your booking page; you can still book it for anyone yourself
  • 'Per-team-member settings' — for a one-to-one service, each team member can have their own price and duration

Removing a service

Delete a service that has bookings behind it and it is archived instead, so its history stays; 'Reactivate' under 'Archived services' brings it back. Services and prices are for owners and admins. In the app they are under More → Services; the photo, colour, featuring, per-service deposit, extras and 'Returning clients only' are set on the web.

May we measure which pages actually help? “Accept all” also lets us measure our own adverts.

What exactly does this mean?

We'd like to use Google Analytics to see which pages help and which don't, and to remember which poster or flyer brought you here. Accept all also allows a Meta advertising pixel, so we can tell which of our own adverts brought a salon that signed up — and if you create an account, your name and email address go to Meta scrambled (hashed), never as readable text, purely so it can recognise that the sign-up came from an advert. None of this runs on a salon's own booking page. Everything the service itself needs works either way. Cookie Policy
