A salon's working day, hour by hour

A four-chair salon: two stylists, a nail tech and an owner who still takes clients herself. Here is what Slotora does at each point of their day — and where it stops, we say so.

  1. 8:30

Before the door opens: the day on one screen

Every colleague has their own column in the diary, with their own working hours, breaks and time off. The hours are a weekly template, so Tuesday's late shift never needs retyping, and any single day can be changed or closed on its own. If a colleague connects Google Calendar, her private appointments there block her slots automatically. Team diaries and working hours

  2. 9:00

Clients book themselves, wherever they found you

The salon's booking page has its own link and takes bookings at any hour. After setup, Slotora opens a page with a separate link for Instagram, Facebook, your Google Business Profile, your website and TikTok, plus a ready-written reply for Messenger and WhatsApp. On your website it can be a button, a small widget or the whole booking page embedded. Online booking

  3. 10:15

The client's card, before she sits down

You see every past visit, what she has spent, notes, tags, her birthday and before-and-after photos. Allergies go in a separate caution field, so they are not lost in the notes. Clients from your old system come across in a spreadsheet (.xlsx, .xls or .csv). The client book

  4. 11:00

Reminders go out on their own

Email confirmations and reminders cost nothing and go at the times you choose: a day before, two hours before, or both. SMS is optional and runs on credits — worth it for clients who never open email. Automatic reminders

  5. 12:30

    A cancellation, and the waitlist

At noon a client cancels her 3 pm cut. Everyone on the waitlist for that service and that day gets an email straight away, and the first to book takes the slot. It is held for nobody, so the quickest wins.

  6. 14:00

Deposits and no-show fees, into your own Stripe

For long or expensive services you can ask for a deposit or full prepayment at booking, per service, and waive it for trusted regulars. Set a fee for no-shows and for late cancellations, and Slotora charges it to the card saved at booking. The money goes to the salon's own Stripe account; Slotora takes 0% of it, and Stripe charges its own processing fee.

  7. 16:00

A form before the visit, stock after it

Patch-test, medical-history and consent forms reach the client by email or SMS before the visit, and she signs on her phone. Products a service uses come off your stock when you close the visit, and you are warned before something runs out. Stock

  8. 18:30

    At the counter

When a client pays at the desk, you record it against her booking: cash, card on your own card machine, or bank transfer, with the tip kept apart from the bill. She can pay a balance by card through a link, by scanning a QR code. A Stripe Terminal reader is driven from Slotora, and the phone app hands a payment to the SumUp or Square app. At closing, a cash count shows whether the drawer is short or over. Gift cards and passes can also be bought on your booking page. Counter payments

  9. 20:00

After closing: the numbers on your phone

Reports show money collected against money booked, the no-show and cancellation rate, how full the diary was and how many clients came back — per colleague too, for the last 30 or 90 days or this month. The business app runs on iOS and Android. Your data leaves with you whenever you want: clients, services and bookings as CSV, the whole account in one file. The business app

The whole team at no cost — however many you are

Add everyone: stylists, nail techs, the apprentice, the Saturday freelancer. The code that adds a colleague has no limit, and nothing is charged per person — a team of twelve pays what a team of one pays: nothing.

Each colleague gets their own diary column, hours, services (with their own duration and price if they differ) and, if you like, their own login. A colleague's login works the diary; the client book, settings and money stay with the owner and admins.

  • Own working hours and days off per person
  • Own service duration and price per person
  • Own login by email invite
  • Own diary colour
  • Google Calendar per colleague
  • Reports per colleague

What Slotora does for you, automatically

Reminders go out on their own

Every client gets an email reminder before the visit — you choose when, and more than one if you like. Text reminders go out as well once you add SMS credits.

Confirmations and cancellations

A client who books gets a confirmation straight away, and can cancel herself up to your cut-off — without a single message to you.

A freed slot finds a client

When somebody cancels, the people on your waitlist for that day hear about it at once, and whoever books first gets the time.

Deposits and no-show fees

Deposits are taken when the client books, and a no-show or late-cancellation fee is charged automatically to the card saved at booking — through your own Stripe.

Forms before the visit

Consultation and consent forms are emailed to the client ahead of the appointment, so the answers are waiting when she arrives.

Clients come back

Switch on automations and Slotora asks for a review after the visit, nudges a rebooking when the next appointment is due, wins back clients who have gone quiet and greets them on their birthday.

Gift cards and passes settle themselves

A code bought online is emailed to the buyer the moment it is paid, and every booking made with a pass takes one session off it.

Your calendars stay in step

Once Google Calendar is connected, busy times there block your booking slots, and every booking appears in Google on its own.

Questions salon owners ask

Is Slotora really free for a whole team?

Yes. There is no monthly fee and no charge per colleague; the code that adds a team member has no limit. Three optional extras cost money: SMS credits, Nita's AI tiers and the AI phone receptionist.

What is the difference between salon software and a booking system?

A booking system takes appointments. Salon software also runs everything around them: the team's hours, the client book, reminders, deposits, the counter, stock and the numbers. Slotora does both in one account.

Can each colleague have their own login?

Yes, by email invite. A colleague's login works the diary; the client book, settings and payments stay with owners and admins.

Do my clients need to download an app?

No. They book on your booking page, in the browser. The app is for you and your team, on iOS and Android.

Does Slotora take commission on deposits or card payments?

No. Deposits, prepayments and no-show fees go to your own Stripe account, and Slotora takes 0% of them. Stripe charges its own processing fee, as it would anywhere.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Clients, services and bookings export as CSV at any time, and everything together as one JSON file.

How do I switch from another system?

Import your client list from a spreadsheet (.xlsx, .xls or .csv), add your services and hours, then put the new link where the old one was. The migration centre takes your price list and photos too.

May we measure which pages actually help? “Accept all” also lets us measure our own adverts.

What exactly does this mean?

We'd like to use Google Analytics to see which pages help and which don't, and to remember which poster or flyer brought you here. Accept all also allows a Meta advertising pixel, so we can tell which of our own adverts brought a salon that signed up — and if you create an account, your name and email address go to Meta scrambled (hashed), never as readable text, purely so it can recognise that the sign-up came from an advert. None of this runs on a salon's own booking page. Everything the service itself needs works either way. Cookie Policy
